If you want an example of many of the elites fear of the rest of us, just look at how Saudi Arabia responded to the Arab spring regional uprising in 2010. The kingdom put out 37 billion one month and the king threw 93 billion dollars at its citizens in a "please don't throw us out of power" cowering plea the next month. They were terrified!

My point is that the so called powers to be are paper tigers as far as their true ability to control world events. Be it economic or political their powers are declining year on year as world wide education and the Internet is erasing the needed fear and blind following.
While most of humanity walks into the future accepting the tasks at hand undeterred by loss. Many of the rich and powerful fear that same future. Fear the loss of privilege. It is they that have everything to lose not most of us.
George Soros is a prime example of this fear with his heavy hand in starting and funding the OWS (occupy wall street) leftist trash camp movement. His need for class warfare to help his drive to disconnect the American dollar from Reserve Currency status. So that his new World Currency operated by a newly world integrated International Monetary Fund can globalize and solidify the elite is an outcropping of this fear.
He wants riots in the streets but misunderstands the mindset of most people in regards to the rich and powerful. If you read his bio you see that it is him that was consumed with envy over rich people and he assumes that everyone thinks that way. Wrong, most people would like to have more money but are equally aware that happiness and cash are often not connected. OWS will fail to get the needed butts on the street to make any difference regardless of the close in camera shots of the leftist MSM.
George Soros at 83 yrs old will not live to see his World Currency as the leftists worldwide are in retreat as 55 years of progressive socialism comes crashing down due to exploding budgets.

I look for the American dollar to start to rebound after communist Obama losses by a land slide and whatever RINO gets the nomination is forced (rioting Tea Party) to balance the budget. Oh it will be painful but should start to produce fruit in four or five years.

Well I would like a dollar for every media report on the profitability of this or that segment of the Solar power industry; and another dollar for each asserted reason for the demise of this or that participant. So BP solar is going ppffft because panel prices dropped 48 percent.

Hey ! Earth to Bloomberg; a whole lot more solar energy companies (besides Solyndra) will go belly up; UNLESS solar panel prices come down a whole lot more than they have. The Solyndra apologists blamed China for bombing the prices on them. It can be concluded then, that Solyndra would never have been able to make a profit, unless solar power was much more expensive than it already is. Hey; the idea for replacing some already existing technology, in a given market place such as energy, is to have a more efficient, cheaper energy source than the entrenched competition. You don't replace an existing industry by being more expensive, and less efficient.

In Solyndra’s case, they might have been able to make their solar panels for zero cost (let’s imagine), and they still would have gone belly up, because nobody in their right mind, would ever buy a Solyndra solar panel, and use it to occupy the precious solar insolation space on their roof or other valuable real estate. You only get 1 kW per square metre (max), so if you don’t put up the highest power conversion efficiency receivers in that space, you must be crazy.

Long before Solyndra became a political and financial scam; it was a science and engineering scam, and Nobel Laureate Energy Secretary Chu, should have seen that, and nipped the whole fraud in the bud.

Well a Nobel Prize for Optical Trapping, that somebody else invented anyway, doesn’t necessarily make one an expert on PV solar energy collection.

Solyndra used the yuppy thin film CIGS PV material; the acronym for Copper, Indium Gallium Selenide. The world record Laboratory conversion efficiency achieved for CIGS material is about 19%. Practical cells seem to be more in the 11-13 percent range; but it’s “cheap” they claim, and you don’t use very much of those exotic materials; well compared to silicon; which largely occupies the world’s tropical deserts.

So since the material is cheap, Solyndra decided to use more of it, than they really needed; pi times as much as it turns out, since instead of a simple flat panel of their cheap goop, they filled the space with a cylindrical tube of the stuff, aimed at the same incoming solar beam. CIGS is claimed to be strongly solar absorbing, so one can conclude that the top side of the tube effectively shadows the bottom side of the tube which thereby doesn’t get much sun at all. So they coated the CIGS on the outside of a glass cylinder, and now they have pi times as much substrate glass, as well as pi times as much CIGS.

Well actually it’s much worse than that because CIGS like many of the II-VI compounds such as Cadmium Selenide, just doesn’t like moisture; which happens to be a permanent constituent of the earth’s atmosphere.

So they enclosed the CIGS tube inside a second larger tube, and hermetically sealed them to protect the CIGS from destruction.

That’s now 2pi times as much glass as for a flat plate silicon panel. Making glass, is of course a somewhat energy consuming process, not vastly different from making silicon. Yes CIGS is much cheaper than silicon, I am sure.

Those cylindrical tubes of course cast shadows, as the sun moves around them, so you have to space them apart so they don't shade each other; so that is even more valuable real estate you have to dedicate to this boondoggle, impractical scheme.

In short, Solyndra never had other than a Rube Goldberg solar panel to sell, in the first place; and my apologies to Rube for associating his name with such incompetence.

How come Physics whizz Chu didn't know this, and stop wasting taxpayer’s funds on the scam.

With PV solar energy, virtually nothing matters except the conversion efficiency, because that is what determines how much area you have to sacrifice to solar collection.

I recently attended a solar energy Symposium, at the University of California, Merced. At that meeting, a new record conversion efficiency for multi junction solar cells was announced.

43.5 % or thereabouts was reported for a triple junction cell; that of course is a triple band gap cell, to efficiently convert a wider swath of the solar energy continuum spectrum of energies.

A thin Gallium Arsenide cell process was also reported, showing that lower materials usage is not the exclusive domain of materials that you can spray on anything, out of a garden hose.

From the UC Santa Barbara Team, came a report on another wide band gap, high conversion efficiency material, a GaN/InGaN structure; some chap named Nakamura was heavily involved with that Team. I almost got lulled into thinking I was watching an LED process paper, rather than a solar cell one; but it was pointed out in another paper, that good solar cells should also be good LEDs; well not necessarily of visible radiation. Indirect materials such as Silicon are of course an exception; which is why they have efficiency limits.

The newer exotic materials, and Non-Imaging optical systems point to more effective usage of these materials, to get higher power conversion efficiencies, and better use of real estate.

Cheap low efficiency solar panels; will always be a drag on the use of solar energy, whose supply is limited by the sun.

But it will never replace existing energy sources, unless it is cost competitive; and that usually means on an energy capital basis, not some economist shell shuffling game.

We got to where we are now without external help from somewhere else (ET), so we know that we have had a net energy availability gain, since primordial times. Substitute sources, simply will never succeed, unless they too can hoist themselves by their own shoe laces, without cost hiding subsidy from an already effective source.

It makes no sense to consume already existing energy supplies, to access other sources, that make even less total energy available to do the useful stuff, we use energy for.

The bumbling fools in D.C. have done it again. They’ve screwed us all one more time. The low rent morons who are running the show have kicked the can down the road for (get this) two months.

On Saturday the Senate agreed to a bill that would A) extend unemployment benefits B) extend the 2% payroll tax deduction and C) delay a cut in Medicare reimbursement rates. The deciders agreed to do all the extending, delaying and pretending for two lousy months. In other words, Congress will be back at it over these critical issues in less than six weeks.

There have been dozens of articles from smart people connecting the dots between the uncertain tax policies business’s face and their reluctance to hire more workers. I’ve heard Pols from both sides say the same. It’s true. But the best that Washington can do is move the ball forward by 59 days; disgraceful.

By word of mouth, press, TV – let’s make the United States on every Friday a sea of blue much like a homecoming football game in the bleachers. If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances, coworkers, friends and family, it will not be long before the USA is covered in blue and it will let our troops know the once ‘silent majority’ is on their side more than ever – certainly more than the media lets on.

The first thing a soldier says when asked, “What can we do to make things better for you?” is…”We need your support and your prayers.” So let’s get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example, and wear something blue every Friday. Remember, we live in the land of the free only because of the brave!”

At first, I thought this was a wonderful idea! Then, I decided to poke around a bit on the Internet. It didn’t take long for me to find the following posted on Preemptive Karma about Blue Friday from over a year ago:

“If you’re against this war but you support our troops, wear blue every Friday.

Red is the Republican color and the Republicans support the President’s horrible war. Blue is the Democratic color and the Democrats oppose the war. Show your stance on the war and your support for the troops all at the same time. Make every Friday a blue Friday, starting tomorrow!”

Imagine the subliminal power and symbolic energy that “wearing blue” would have right now during the Presidential primaries and feverish race of hopefuls on both sides toward the White House.

Is this really a good time to be sporting the color blue in a unified fashion on Fridays?

Hmmm…I’m thinking maybe not.

Billions of dollars have been wasted on claims of a massive increase of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the Earth’s atmosphere and entire careers, organizations, and government agencies have been financed to advance the hoax.
So much depends on this cash flow that the fraud’s machinery continues to function. Yet another IPCC conference on climate change began on November 30 in Durban, South Africa for the purpose of extending the absurd Kyoto Protocols that some nations signed onto with the promise of reducing “greenhouse gas emissions.” The original protocols exempted China and India. The U.S. refused to participate and many industrial nations have indicated they have no intention of doing so this time around.
As just one example of this BIG LIE, on November 30 I received a news release from the Missouri State University stating that one of its professors was “delivering a message in Washington, D.C. today urging the nation’s leaders to address the moral issue surrounding climate change.”
Oh, so now global warming is a moral issue, too?
As I have frequently noted, climate is something measured in centuries, while weather is forecast in days and, even then, can prove to be incorrect. The definition of the weather is “chaos” as it is subject to change in just hours as various “fronts” shift course. Even the most powerful events like hurricanes are difficult to predict and the U.S. mainland has not been hit by one in years. By the time Hurricane Irene arrived on the East Coast this year, it had been downgraded to a tropical storm.
This and the revelations of “Climategate”, the thousands of emails exchanged by the IPCC meteorologists of the University of East Anglia’s climate center, has hardly made a dent on the frantic efforts to keep the global warming lie alive.
“Michael Nelson, MSU associate professor of environmental ethics and philosophy, is part of the Climate Ethics Campaign, a team of representatives from government agencies, business and environmental organizations delivering a national climate ethics statement to President Obama and Congress.”
Here’s where it really gets absurd. Having blamed global warming for everything, this gang of hucksters assert that “’Missing from the international debate is the deeply disturbing moral and ethical implications of climate change.’ Nelson said ‘Climate change is a real, dangerous and rapidly worsening problem that cannot be driven solely by short-term economics or national self-interest.’”
The level of fear-mongering reaches new heights with the Climate Ethics Campaign claim that “Climate change-related impacts are already harming and killing people here and abroad. Unless carbon pollution is rapidly reduced, the resulting natural disasters, floods, diseases, illnesses, water and food shortages, and environmental degradation, along with associated rising violence and social breakdown, will injure or kill millions more every year.”
So, there you have it. Either we spend billions on “climate change” or people will die and societies will suffer turmoil. Can you name a single day when the weather somewhere has not killed someone? Do societies experience turmoil because of the weather or because they oppress their population? And can anyone do anything about the weather? No.
I fully expect these charlatans to announce that Santa may not show up on Christmas Eve if we don’t do something about climate change..
The weather, deemed too warm or too cold, continues to be touted as the result of too much CO2 in the atmosphere even though it is a mere 0.038% of the atmosphere and meteorological science has established its impact is virtually non-existent. There is no correlation between its increase and the climate except that it shows up well after any change.
Prof. Nelson, apparently concerned that his job is on the line, said, “We want to urge every citizen to push for policies that reduce emissions and prepare for climate change.”
Some of those policies threaten to further undermine the nation’s economy in the form of the Environmental Protection Agency’s assertion that CO2 is a “pollutant” and is falsely trying to use the Clean Air Act to shut down every coal-fired plant for the generation of electricity—even though they provide fifty percent of all electricity generated.
These aren’t just bad policies based on utterly false and debased science, but they represent the real threat to the lives of all Americans and to the economy in general.
There is no real “ethical” component to climate change. There is only the need to clean up after a hurricane, blizzard or flood in order to help people get their lives in order again. That is already addressed in part by government agencies like FEMA.
The time has long since passed when the U.S. and other nations should pay any attention, let alone waste any more time and money on the “sustainable” schemes being pushed by the United Nations and the many organizations dependent on this massive fraud.

These two forces are converging together in what could be a very serious and detrimental way as it relates to the average US citizen. This article will rely heavily on flawed analogies to help the lay person understand the inner workings of both the IMF and the Federal Reserve Bank. This is not to be taken as an academic piece and I would ask that it not be judged as such. This is meant to help those people that have recently woken up to the reality that their country has been hi-jacked and those that are desperate to get up to speed as quickly as possible. So let’s jump right into the thick of it shall we? First we need to start with what I hope are simple lessons so that you can take what I am about to teach you and apply it to the real world.

There is one thing that bankers and computer people love to do and that is to use big scary acronyms to scare off the simple folk. So here is your first lesson.

I.M.F. and the S.D.R.

So right off the bat we are using acronyms that mean absolutely NOTHING to the lay person and yet that is an actual sentence believe it or not… IMF stands for the International Monetary Fund. The SDR is short for Special Drawing Rights and is the currency of the IMF. The International Monetary Fund is a private bank that is used to help sovereign nations engage in international commerce. Just like if you owned a company and you used bank A, and your supplier used Bank B, the IMF would be the bank that both banks A and B used to transfer payments and credits back and forth to each other. To Company A and B (using Bank A and B) it would be seamless.

Excerpt: US Corp has dug itself in so deep with its debts that there is no way it can ever be paid back. US Corp consumes so much of the world’s energy and resources for completely unproductive reasons that it must be sold off and reorganized. And this is where the IMF and the SDR come into play. The same men who organized and put into place the IMF are once again hard at work planning for the next big thing.

I guess what really irks me is that we all know that the writers for this ad are the typical liberal all knowing brats that love nothing more than to spit on tradition. Its sad that Best Buy has no adults sitting at the corporate table that are able to inject the notion that preservation and appreciation of tradition is endearing to all of its customer base.

Almost every single one of you misses the point when you argue about tax rates. The real point is that 90% of what the federal government does is simply unconstitutional. You miss the point that the federal government has one and only one purpose: protect liberty. Our constitution was written to protect our INDIVIDUAL, personal liberty. The national government has the duty to make sure that our God given rights are not infringed upon.

In order for government to do what it is not constitutionally allowed to do it must infringe upon the rights of its citizens. It does so using phrases like "fairness", or "for the children" or "safety net". None of these things are really true. Their part of the grand lie. And the lie is that we tell people government is for them but really, we take from them to give to you (or your speci...al interest group, or your corporation, or your campaign).

There is a very simple way to solve our budget problems. Stop spending money on welfare programs of any and all sorts. These are all unconstitutional. I'll accept that for humanitarian reasons there needs to be a period of transition, particularly Social Security and Medicare. But within 20 years those programs should be extinct. Along with the alphabet soup of government agencies doing things they have no right to do.

It is the very nature of government to take power (and wealth) from its citizens. This is not political theory, but historical fact. As soon as government hands out goodies, no matter how noble the reason, government will be exploited to hand out ever increasing amounts of goodies until there are no resources to make any more goodies left.

Not only that, but those who are in line for the goodies (elected officials, corporations, special interest groups of all types) begin to feel entitled to the goodies. They get violent when anyone suggests they might not get their goodies anymore (witness what happened in England and Greece and will be happening all over Europe). People feel entitled to that which they have not earned nor have a right to receive.

Today, our collective pantry is just about empty.

So, argue about tax rates all you want.... it's just a distraction.

Powell is a Beltway dinosaur

POWELL: "They compromised -- the Founding Fathers compromised on slavery. They had to in order to create a country."

Right there you have the heart of the national dilemma.

Old graybeards like Powell insist on a compromise. But 60 years of compromise since WW2 have delivered a $15 trillion national debt and a government system that is in a death spiral.

But take Powell's example about the compromise on slavery, of all things. While he is historically correct, he implies that we may have to accept some self-destructive evil in order to preserve the country. The compromise on slavery did indeed permit the 13 original states to form a country, but we then had to suffer a destructive civil war 80 years later in order to rectify the wrong.

Beltway creatures like Powell (whom I once held in high regard) don't get it. The time for compromise is over. In relative terms, the US is now at where it was in 1859, not in terms of splitting apart through secession, but in terms of the eve of another cataclysmic upheaval, this time of an economic nature. We are accelerating toward the kind of economic destructive that anti-capitalists yearn for, because they believe capitalism will ultimately destroy itself (perhaps with a big shove from the extremes), opening opportunities for failed systems like communism and fascism.

Neville Chamberlain believed compromise at Munich in 1938 would spare Europe another world war. It didn't.

The Old Guard in the Beltway believes that compromise will get us past this tough economic slump long enough for them to win re-election. But the simple math proves them wrong.

Compromise is now merely kicking the can down the road again. Republicans and Democrats have kicked the can for decades even when the evidence of a future train wreck was irrefutable. They've known for decades that Social Security and Medicare would become unsustainable in the early 21st Century.

And now we've run out of time for compromise. We need adult leadership that not even the likes of a retired general can provide.

Im not replacing my 15 year old TV it still works just fine, it has outlasted 3 DVD players, and 4 satalite decoders. No shitty plastic toys with batteries for the kids this year. Unless it's metal or wood and built to last I'm not buying. I refuse to exchange my labour for crap. So much energy is wasted on things with less then a 12month time horizon. More accurately, the Fed is a private institution that can tap people's wealth and loan it to whomever they want.

Non-redeemable paper currency like the US dollar is a simple easy way to take people's wealth without permission. Simply by printing more currency the Fed grabs a little of your wealth and my wealth and everybody's wealth and loans it to someone.

Why is the Fed taking a little of your wealth and my wealth and everybody's wealth? Because printing more dollars increases the amount of dollars in circulation (inflation), reducing the value of dollars in your pocket, my pocket, everybody's pocket.

Banks don't create wealth. Banks merely borrow wealth from others and loan it out at interest.

In a gold redeemable currency where banks can't print more currency at will, wealth is borrowed from others and they earn a small amount of interest on it.

In a non-redeemable currency like the US dollar where banks can print more currency at will, they don't have to borrow people's wealth and pay interest on it. They can take it. Without permission, without people even realizing it.

THAT is why central banks hate redeemable currency and insist on non-redeemable currency. It allows them to take people's wealth without asking, without people even realizing it, because they take a tiny about from everybody using that currency. The theft is equally distributed among everybody using that currency.

And yes it is theft. Because the wealth is never given back.

Giving the wealth back requires the Fed to bring those dollars back in and take them out of circulation, reducing the amount of dollars in circulation (deflation), increasing the value of dollars in your pocket, my pocket, everybody's pocket.

When has the Fed ever reduced the amount of dollars in circulation, increasing their value?

Actually it has happened occasionally. Decades ago.

But over the 98 years of the Fed's existence the amount of dollars in circulation has grown steadily, and in the past three years has grown rapidly. It's why the US dollar has lost 1/3 of its value since '08.

This is an utterly imposable 5% increase in mpg per year. The average yearly increase in mpg is 1.5%. What to do?

This problem can easily be solved by simply shortening the mile. If your car gets 30 mpg and you want it to get 35 mpg, simply shorten the mile to 30/35 of a mile to meet your goal and to establish a new mile. When you want to increase your mileage from 35 mpg to 95 mpg, just shorten your new mile to 35/95 of a mile. This will meet and exceed all EPA goals, protect the environment, and extend the supply of fossil fuels into the infinite future. It's so simple, why haven't we done this before?

At least 15 million American home owners are now under water!

I think this is actually a key point and most people have no figured out that this really spells HUGE problems. For 30 years we’ve had a largely up-market with positive demographics and income but what magnified this was leverage and interest rates steadily dropping down from 20% in the early 1980s. What that does is take an incremental salary increase and boost a financed asset value by magnitudes due to simultaneously cheaper debt being offset: Affordability = cost of debt service + principal repayment.

The net effect of this was people who bought the ‘starter home’ saw strong steady appreciation in their home (big leveraged equity win) while their income steadily rose. This created the “move up buyer” which basically drove the market with not only wage increases but outsized buying potential as a result of levered equity profits on previous homes.
The point we are at now is that there are NO move up buyers and many of them took a major hit to their equity. A good portion of them played the move up game so far beyond their income and median income levels that they have wiped out their equity (musical chairs and the music stopped). Fundamentals for creating more move up buyers without substantial wage increases are done, that old equity ponzi is finished and people are absorbing the losses. Incomes are no where near pricing and with not only future levered equity gains off the table but the past gains heavily impaired (don’t even bother with tight/real credit and demographic downsizing shifts) – there is no chance of wind in the sails as I see it.

No they don't. They have so much cash equivalents that if you put them on the free market would turn into pennies on the dollar equivalents. It's a mind fuck. Microsoft is worth 70 slash that 55 billion. As long as you don't try to sell it for that. By the time you got done selling stock it would be worth about 10 billion.

It's fractional reserve system. Nobody gives a shit about assets and liabilities. All they care about are cash flows. Earnings in case of corporate business and taxes in case of corporate governance. They care about stock prices because those affect their ability to get money through the credit markets using the stockholders as unsecured creditors. The problem is the system has transformed the unsecured creditors from people you can wipe to people you can't as they've gone from citizens to government employee 401k investments.

Since the system has only cared about cash flow for so long they keep pumping cash into things that don't pay off. They got secret weapons that cost trillions that are totally fucking useless. They got scientific and technological projects that go nowhere. You have any idea how much money has been pumped into rfid and it just doesn't fucking work. It's too easily detected too easily hacked too easily destroyed too easily every fucking thing on the planet.

Earnings are all faked in every industry. AMD is about the only chip maker on the planet that doesn't fudge it's books. They still play the game though and aren't trustworthy in some respects but their numbers are just about as real as it gets.

Cash to computer industry is licensing fees that are put on books as cash and cash equivalents but who's future income potential is wildly exaggerated. Software companies have franchise software on books at 20 million this or 200 million that when there's absolutely no way those franchises will ever make those numbers mark to market.

AMD can't go bankrupt they are too much of the market but they could be put in restructuring that would make them chase markets they don't fucking care about. So they are being pressured and fingered to get into that position. So the board can force them into the bullshit phone system on a chip ultra mobile computing market that AMD knows is nothing but a decent market that will run up against a growth wall and then slowly shrink forever.
